The real value of a weblog
I guess it's easy, particularly when you first start blogging, to get enamored with the idea of having a voice in the world and having such a huge potential audience for your ideas.
I now realise that the benefit lies elsewhere. This little Quicktime video clip by Nancy White is a little reminder to myself of the real value of blogging - that it's about co-creating with others, about putting aside our personal agendas and joining the conversation so a shared meaning can emerge. I'm a sucker for a good metaphor and Nancy uses the idea of candles and mirrors beautifully to illustrate this change of perspective from personal to shared benefits.
[Note to self:- come back here and replay this clip if ever I feel myself getting on a high horse]
